11th International Pesticides Forum commenced

International Pesticides Forum was started in “Caucasus Riverside” hotel of Qabala region with the organization of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan and International HCH & Pesticides Association on September 7, 2011. The Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic Azerbaijan Husein Bagirov opening the Forum with indroductory remarks gave comprehensive information to the participants on implemented successive measures for settlement of urgent environmental problems in Azerbaijan on the basis of sustainable development principles, as well as environmental problems remained from the Soviet Union. Observed torrid weather condition

According to the National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Reasources in the recent days maximum temperature in the territory of the Republic is 5 degrees high in relation to perennial norm, the temperature has been noted +40-41oC in Baku and Absheron peninsula, +41-42oC in some Central Lowland regions, and in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. During 1988-1993 1.7 ml ha territories of the Azerbaijan Republic were occupied as a result of Armenian invasion. More than 460 species of wild trees and shrubs grow in the occupied territories. 70 of them are endemic species and don’t grow naturally in any other place of the world. Qarachohra, ayifindighi, Araz pine, yalangoz, eastern sycamore, pomegranate, forest grape, pirkal, shumshad, elder pine, date, willowleaf pear and other tree species were destructed in the occupied territories and currently are about to be effaced from the world flora treasure.  Continue reading Ecological condition in the occupied Azerbaijan territories
